For a Small Claims Case, the Court Officer is required by law to make three attempts at personal service. Once in the morning, once in the afternoon and once in the evening, of these three; one attempt must be made on the weekend (Saturday or Sunday). These attempts must be made 4 – 10 days apart. This process takes approximately three weeks. Once the Court Officer has completed his attempts, you will be contacted with either a copy of the proof of service or an explanation of the next step.
